How to Use Ledger Live: A Step-by-Step Beginner Setup Guide
Step 1: Downloading Ledger Live
Start by downloading Ledger Live from the official Ledger website. It is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. Always avoid third-party downloads to protect your device.
Step 2: Initial Setup
Open the app and choose whether you’re setting up a new device or restoring an existing one. If you're using a new Ledger wallet, the app will guide you through creating a PIN and writing down your 24-word recovery phrase.
Step 3: Connecting Your Ledger Hardware Wallet
Connect your Ledger device via USB or Bluetooth (Nano X only). The app will recognize the device instantly. Enter your PIN and proceed to installation.
Step 4: Installing Crypto Apps
Go to the “Manager” section to install apps for specific cryptocurrencies. Each supported asset requires its own app on the hardware device.
Step 5: Adding Accounts
Once apps are installed, begin adding accounts for each cryptocurrency. This allows you to view balances, receive funds, and manage transactions.
Step 6: Sending and Receiving Crypto
To receive crypto, copy the public address from your Ledger Live account. To send crypto, enter the recipient’s address and confirm the transaction on your hardware wallet.
Step 7: Explore Advanced Features
Ledger Live also offers staking, swapping, NFT management, and portfolio analytics—making it a complete crypto management hub.
